As an illustrator, a lot of my work focuses on current issues happening in the Uk and the whole world therefore I have a big passion for protest art. Themes of this can be seen in my work for the 'Works in Progress' Exhibition and for my Final Major Project at the University of South Wales. This passion fuels me as an artist and I will continue to make work about issues I am passionate about.
Final Major Project
For my Final Major Project at university I created a series of 3 fabric banners focused around women's rights. Throughout my research, the Reform Uk political party came up a lot, with disgusting remarks being said by active and ex Reform MPs so I decided to focus on this. The banners have raw, unedited quotes said by these men along with embroidered portraits of their faces so they cannot hide from the things they have said.
Liberation - Works in Progress Exhibition
For our 'Works in Progress' exhibition at university I created a fabric print paired with 2 risograph prints centred around women's rights and equality. I pulled on Suffragette imagery and facts to create a mixed media piece which I made digital before finally printing the designs on either fabric or riso printed.
